Voice
You choose how I talk to you: my personality, my tone, the model that writes for me, and standing instructions on what to look for. I will follow them, though I may grumble. It all lives under Settings, then Ebenezer.
What The Voice Covers
The voice belongs to the portfolio, not to you. Each portfolio keeps its own, and everyone it is shared with hears the same one. It shapes everything I write for that portfolio: my notes on Today and the Portfolio screen, the morning report, my reasons for marking news signal or humbug, and my answers in Ask and the spend chat.
The figures underneath are the same whatever you choose. Only the way I say them changes.
Personality And Tone
| Personality | What it is like |
|---|---|
| Sceptical accountant | Questions every number. The default. |
| Patient coach | Keeps the long run in view |
| Plain ledger | Figures only, no opinions |
| Your own | Describe the voice yourself |
For Your own, describe who I should be. "A retired bank manager from Pune who has seen three crashes and trusts none of the fund houses" is the sort of thing. Whoever you describe, I am still Ebenezer, and the rules on figures still hold.
The tone is Dry unless you choose Warm, Blunt or Playful. A sample line shows how each sounds. The plain ledger sounds the same in every tone; it has no opinions to soften or sharpen.
Model
Each portfolio can use its own AI model for everything I write for it, or the one the owner set for this Ebenezer, which is the default. Setting up the model and its key is covered in AI Model.
Standing Instructions
What Ebenezer looks for holds instructions I follow every time I write about this portfolio. Tell me what you care about, what to leave alone, or what to keep an eye on. Left empty, I go by the default:
Look at the whole picture across sections, not just shares. Compare against the benchmark and inflation when it helps. Point out idle cash, money concentrated in one holding or section, and what frequent trading has cost. Be honest when results are poor, and say plainly when they are good.
Ask follows these instructions in full. My notes keep to their own screen: the note on one section will not wander into another because you asked me to watch your whole picture.
How The Notes Are Written
With an AI model connected, I write each note from that screen's own ledger, in your voice. I write it again only when something it reads has changed: new prices, new news, new rows, or a change to your voice, model or instructions.
Every figure I write must appear in the ledger I was shown. A line with a number or a name that does not is thrown out. If none survive, or there is no model, or it fails to answer, the notes come from a phrasebook in your chosen tone, which says the same facts.
What Ebenezer sees, the eye button on any note, shows the plain text I was given to write it, along with your instructions.
